Harvest typically begins the first part of October.  The chestnuts are collected daily and stored in a refrigerated facility immediately upon harvesting.  The chestnuts are further processed by inspecting, washing and grading into several sizes. 

Colossal Orchards markets chestnuts through wholesale produce companies, grocery store chains and direct on farm sales.  All direct farm sales are conducted on a first come first serve basis.  Mother Nature plays a major role in the annual yield of chestnuts.  It is not possible to determine the number of chestnuts that are available for sale until harvest has been completed.
